זוהר שמות — דף קכב ע”א

Summary

Folio 122a deals with the holiness of Israel and the prohibition of evil speech. Israel is called true “kodesh,” not merely “kodesh people.” Therefore, it is forbidden to call one's fellow by a derogatory name, which carries a severe penalty. One who calls his fellow “racha” (wicked) is sentenced to gehinnom, except for notoriously brazen Torah transgressors. The verse “she was like a widow but not a widow” demonstrates that the distinction between “like” and the thing itself carries great significance in divine judgments.
