זוהר בראשית — דף רג ע”א

Summary

The Zohar explains “the valley of vision” as the Divine Presence, from whom the prophets drew their prophecy, and “what ails you that you have gone up, all of you, to the roofs” as the Divine Presence rising at the destruction of the Temple and weeping for her children and for the exile, drawing with her the hosts and the chariots. In the days of the Temple there were blessings and joy; now there are curses, yet the Holy One, blessed be He, will raise the Assembly of Israel from the dust. On “At morning light the men were sent away, they and their donkeys,” Rabbi Elazar explains that they left with their donkeys so as not to remain as slaves, and that Abraham’s morning saved them from judgment. Rabbi Yehuda comments on “like the light of morning the sun rises”: the morning light of Abraham, the sun of Jacob, and rain from the side of Isaac and Joseph.
