זוהר בראשית — דף קסה ע”ב
Summary
The Zohar explains that Jacob recognized the camps of angels as the ones he had seen in his dream, and that the Divine Presence came to meet him. In the many supplementary passages, the text discusses “vanity of vanities” and the world’s endurance, Jacob leaving Beer-Sheva for Haran, the dream of the ladder, the well and the stone, thought and the birth of Reuben, the mandrakes and the poplar rod, and a parable about the “woman of harlotry” and the punishment of one who follows her. In the main text, Rabbi Yehuda opens with “He will command His angels concerning you”: the evil impulse and the good impulse accompany a person, and at thirteen he becomes joined to them. Therefore the Holy One, blessed be He, appointed angels for Jacob when he parted from Laban.
