זוהר בראשית — דף רו ע”ב

Summary

The Zohar explains “the kings assembled, they passed by together” according to the secret of faith: two worlds, the upper and the lower, unite, and sins are atoned for; Rabbi Ḥiyya connects this to the order of the offering. “They saw, they were astonished” refers to the accusers, who are subdued. Rabbi Elazar explains that Judah approached as a guarantor, and that this drawing near brought peace among the tribes and revived Jacob’s spirit. Rabbi Abba opens with “Beautiful in elevation, the joy of all the earth” concerning Joseph, Jerusalem and the Sanctuary. It is then told that Rabbi Yehuda and Rabbi Yose, at Kefar Ḥanan, ask how David used to rise at midnight; a man who arrived with a donkey answers that David slept only sixty breaths.
