My name is Shahar Avraham Friedman. I am 37 years old, from Jerusalem, a doctoral candidate in Jewish philosophy, and a language and content editor and therapist.
My encounter with Torah during my yeshiva years connected me to it very powerfully, and I committed myself to devoting my life to the Divine and to its path in the world.
In my search for truth and for my own contribution, I moved between different streams of religious Zionism, various Hasidic movements, the Lithuanian Torah world, academic research, and more recently the ‘New Age’ and universal spirituality. Along the way I founded several initiatives, met extraordinary people, and had a wide range of fascinating experiences.
I have always felt that we live in an age that needs a new spiritual message, one that goes beyond our usual definitions, and I have worked with all my strength to establish practical concepts and tools for this change.
Beneath all the texts and social structures I know, there is, in my eyes, a single point toward which everything moves and around which everything is woven: the direct connection between the human being and the Divine, and the choice of goodness for its own sake, beyond any definition.
My connection to the Daily Zohar project stems from my belief that we must understand the Torah anew and more deeply. The inner dimension of Torah allows for a deepening and elevation of our consciousness, and studying it through an encounter between the ancient text and the contemporary learner can bring about a renewal for the good — one that grows out of our sources and roots yet expands beyond them.
I am currently also working on a prose book, and I offer a weekly class on the foundations of Kabbalah, prayer and prophetic-request gatherings, and personal guidance for those interested.
